Catrin Soldo
I’m Catrin, Berliner by choice! I came to the city because of its amazing creative opportunities, diversity, and openness, all of which make this city a very special place.
In order to share these wonderful qualities with as many people as possible, I founded of/Berlin with two friends. of/Berlin is a concept store in Nositzstraße 23 in Kreuzberg, offering curated Berlin design and exciting products made by Berlin manufacturers. From local delicacies to jewellery, bags, and home accessories, you’ll find everything you could possibly wish for here. Come visit us, and you’ll take away not only your favourite products, but also the story of how they were made.
Kreuzberg is a wonderful place in which to find new inspiration and tank up on crazy creativity. You should start your day in Markthalle Neun, where the newest food trends meet combine with local ingredients, and where you can enjoy a tasty breakfast. After that, you should explore Skalitzer Straße on foot or by bike, heading eastwards. Make sure to look up! Because if you do, you’ll find many pieces of graffiti art by internationally renowned artists, hiding amongst the usual scribbles.
From Skalitzer Straße, head right onto Schlesische Straße, where west meets east and Kreuzberg changes into Alt-Treptow. (Don’t forget to buy a completely black vanilla ice cream from Black Poodle Ice Cream to eat along the way!). This isn’t just a place for party animals: head to Freischwimmer for delicious food and wine and a very civilized view of the Spree, as well as a short break from walking!
From there, the Arena just a short stroll away. This was the site of the Berlin bus depot, and today it’s one of Berlin’s most versatile event locations. It has a swimming pool which floats in the Spree, inviting you to while away the hours there. You could then let the day come to a relaxed end with a cold beer on the bank of the river Spree, and in good weather, you’ll be treated to a breath-taking sunset.
Enjoy your stay in Berlin!
